Winner Recruitment are recruiting for a Metal Processing Operative to join a well-established metals company based in Barnsley. You will be responsible for processing and preparing a range of metals and alloys using industrial machinery and equipment, with full training provided where required.

Starting pay from £13.15 per hour, rising to £17 with shift allowance. This is a full-time, permanent role offering long-term career opportunities within a busy production environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in metal processing, recycling, manufacturing or heavy industry.
• Experience operating industrial machinery.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety.
• Strong work ethic and reliable attitude, capable of manual work.
• Ability to work as part of a team and maintain attention to detail.
• Willingness to undertake physical/manual work and adapt to shift patterns.

Responsibilities

• Operate metal processing machinery safely and efficiently.
• Cut, shear and saw various metals.
• Sort and grade metals and materials.
• Operate plasma cutting and other processing equipment.
• Load and unload materials.
• Check materials for quality and contamination.
• Carry out basic machinery checks and report faults.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Follow all Health & Safety procedures.
• Work as part of a busy production team.
• Meet daily production and quality targets.

The Role

As a Metal Processing Operative, you will be responsible for processing and preparing a range of metals and alloys using industrial machinery and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Operating metal processing machinery safely and efficiently
• Cutting, shearing and sawing various metals
• Sorting and grading metals and materials
• Operating plasma cutting and other processing equipment
• Loading and unloading materials
• Checking materials for quality and contamination
• Carrying out basic machinery checks and reporting faults
• Maintaining a clean and safe working environment
• Following all Health & Safety procedures
• Working as part of a busy production team
• Meeting daily production and quality targets

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience within metal processing, recycling, manufacturing or heavy industry
• Experience operating industrial machinery
• A good understanding of Health & Safety
• A strong work ethic and reliable attitude
• Good attention to detail
• The ability to work as part of a team
• A willingness to undertake physical/manual work
• Flexibility to work shift patterns

FLT, overhead crane or other machinery experience would be advantageous, although training may be available for the right candidate.
