A leading automotive recruitment firm is seeking an experienced MET Technician to perform mechanical and electrical repairs in Newport. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in an automotive environment and hold a full UK driving licence.   • Background in light vehicle maintenance is also welcome.
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out Mechanical, Electrical, and Trim (MET) work on allocated jobs.
  • Identifying additional repair work and liaising with the Vehicle Damage Assessor (VDA).
  • Suspension component replacement and repairs.

MET Technician
Location: Newport
Salary: £21 - £23 per hour plus uncapped time saved bonus (Worth an extra £5000 - £10,000 per annum in most cases)
Hours: Monday to Friday 42.5 hours, with flexibility

Role Overview - MET Technician
  • Carrying out Mechanical, Electrical, and Trim (MET) work on allocated jobs
  • Panel replacement and realignment to manufacturer gapping and specifications
  • Vehicle diagnostics, fault finding, and fault clearing
  • Removal and refitting of radiators, air conditioning repairs, and re‑gassing
  • Panel straightening and filling
  • Suspension component replacement, repairs, and wheel alignment
  • ADAS calibration (training provided)
  • Identifying additional repair work and liaising with the Vehicle Damage Assessor (VDA)
Requirements - MET Technician

Proven experience working in an automotive environment conducting stripping and fitting, ideally as an MET Technician.

Background in light vehicle maintenance with stripping and fitting skills is also welcome.

  • City & Guilds, NVQ, or ATA qualifications are ideal but not essential.
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence.
  • ATA accreditation is preferred but not essential.
