Job summary

HP4 Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced MET Technician in Gateshead to join a busy auto bodyshop. The role covers mechanical, electrical and trim work on accident-damaged vehicles, with diagnostics and fault-finding across systems.

You will strip and refit components, rebuild vehicles to exact spec, and collaborate with panel and paint teams to maintain throughput and safety standards. A strong eye for detail and quality is essential.

Qualifications

• Experienced MET Technician with strong background in accident repair and vehicle diagnostics.
• Solid understanding of mechanical and electrical repair work.
• Comfortable with strip, fit and rebuild processes and quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Carry out full MET stripping and refitting of vehicles.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults related to accident damage.
• Remove and refit components to support panel repairs and bodywork restoration.
• Complete vehicle diagnostics, fault finding, and system checks.
• Rebuild vehicles ensuring correct fitment and safety standards.
• Work closely with panel and paint technicians to ensure efficient workflow.
• Ensure all work meets manufacturer and bodyshop standards.
• Maintain accurate records of all repair work carried out.

About the Role

Our client, a leading name within the automotive accident repair and bodyshop industry, is looking for an experienced MET Technician to join their busy and fast-paced workshop.

Key Responsibilities

• Ability to work in a fast-paced bodyshop environment
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or MET (desirable but not essential)
