Job summary

Smiths News is hiring a merchandiser for Worthing on a flexible, part-time contract. The role focuses on in-store presentation, stock replenishment, and maintaining on-brand displays across assigned retailers. A full UK driving licence and vehicle use are required, with travel time and mileage payable where eligible.

The position offers 5–20 hours weekly with an emphasis on autonomy, routine planning, and customer-facing interactions on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• Must reside within 15 miles of Worthing.
• Must have a valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Own the merchandising territory on the shop floor with POS placement and stock replenishment.
• Audit displays and ensure displays stay on-brand and visually engaging.
• Build relationships with store colleagues and managers to support sales.
• Plan a cost-effective route and visits that maximise coverage.
• Provide flexible, part-time support around other commitments.

Merchandiser – Worthing
Flexible, part time contract
Pay Rate – £14.24 Per hour (includes Holiday Pay)

Travel time and mileage are payable subject to eligibility

Plus: Location Allowance if applicable

Full UK Driving licence plus use of vehicle required.

About the role:

As an Instore Merchandiser, you’ll bring products to life out in the world on the shop floor. You’ll own your territory, taking care of point-of-sale placement to stock replenishment and auditing. You’ll take pride in first-class standards, creating and maintaining visually impactful displays, and building strong relationships with store colleagues and managers. You’ll be the person who keeps everything in order, ensuring that stock is replenished and that displays stay on-brand. You’ll take charge of your own cost-effective journey plan and make every visit count. If you’re someone who thrives on autonomy and loves to engage with others, this role is for you.

Previous Merchandising experience would be advantageous but not mandatory. However, you will need:

• A friendly confident personality with a can do attitude.


• Excellent communication skills, high integrity and reliable.


• To be located within 15 miles of advertised area.


• Ability to work on own initiative and make the right decisions under pressure.


• Full commitment to providing excellent customer service.
