Overview

Here at Blueprint Recruitment, we are looking for a seasoned MEP Design Manager to join a global engineering and consultancy firm, on an 18-month contract basis, Inside IR35. The chosen candidate will be expected to work on a hybrid basis, from our client's London site, 3 days a week. Within this role you will have the opportunity to lead and manage a large-scale rail project, though the 4th and 5th Stages, working alongside other professionals to reach the project's completion.

Compensation
  • Competitive day rate ranging from £500-£650 (depending on experience)
  • Hybrid working arrangement (3 days on-site and 2 days from home)
Responsibilities
  • Lead the design deliverables through Stages 4 and 5, gathered from the supply chain, ensuring that timelines, quality, and compliance to project standards are met.
  • Manage the collaboration between multidisciplinary teams to allow for efficient query resolution and transparent communication.
  • Collaborate with engineering, delivery, and assurance teams to accurately locate design risks and challenges, scope gaps, and communication issues.
  • Foster safe design practices for maintenance, construction, and operation, whilst also ensuring the project complies with CDM regulations.
  • Keep up to date with the project’s progress and development through site visits and documentation, reporting any risks to the commercial and delivery teams.
  • Assist with the subcontract management and cost reconciliation process throughout the project’s lifespan.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience in design management, with a focus on Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health systems (Lifts, MEP testing and commissioning, EMC and fire systems).
  • Strong understanding of MEP design, with a solid grasp of current industry standards, regulations, and policies.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other professionals, in large-scale environments.
  • Proficient in the use of software tools such as AutoCAD, ProjectWise, Navisworks, and Microsoft Office systems.
  • Sound communication and leadership skills, with the understanding of how to adapt designs to fit different clients and their unique requirements.
