Job summary

Future Engineering in Birmingham is seeking an experienced MEP Design Lead to take ownership of design coordination and engineering quality on a major advanced manufacturing project. You will lead the MEP design management, ensuring solutions meet client requirements, programme and budget across the full design lifecycle.

Working closely with project leadership, consultants and subcontractors, you will coordinate mechanical, electrical, controls and building systems, ensuring BIM coordination,

Qualifications

• Proven experience as MEP Design Manager or Technical Lead in building services.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary design teams (mechanical/electrical/controls).
• Experience delivering complex manufacturing, industrial, pharmaceutical, healthcare, data centre projects.
• Strong understanding of design assurance, BIM coordination, technical compliance and construction delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead MEP design management to meet client requirements, programme and budget.
• Manage design consultants and subcontractors, review submissions and resolve issues.
• Oversee cross-discipline coordination between mechanical, electrical, controls and building systems, including interfaces with structural and architectural packages.

Take the technical lead on a major advanced manufacturing development in Somerset with an established contractor delivering complex construction projects across the UK and Europe. This is an opportunity for an experienced MEP design professional to take ownership of design coordination and engineering quality on a technically demanding project.

Working closely with project leadership, consultants and specialist subcontractors, you'll ensure mechanical and electrical designs are coordinated, compliant and ready for construction, supporting delivery through to commissioning and handover.

Your Role as an MEP Design Lead Will Include:

• Lead MEP design management, ensuring technical solutions meet client requirements, programme and budget.
• Manage design consultants and specialist subcontractors, reviewing technical submissions and resolving design issues.
• Oversee coordination between mechanical, electrical, controls and building systems, including interfaces with structural and architectural packages.

As an MEP Design Lead You Will Have:

• Strong experience as an MEP Design Manager, Technical Lead or similar within building services.
• A mechanical or electrical engineering background, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary design teams.
• Experience delivering complex manufacturing, industrial, pharmaceutical, healthcare, data centre or comparable technical projects.
• A strong understanding of design assurance, BIM coordination, technical compliance and construction delivery.
