Job summary

Hays Building Services is recruiting on behalf of a leading UK infrastructure and engineering organisation for an MEP Deputy Design Manager based in Birmingham. You will lead and co-ordinate MEP design activities across concept to construction and commissioning.

You'll work with civil, structural and architectural teams on large-scale projects, ensuring design submissions meet standards, statutory requirements and project risks are managed. A hybrid working model is available where feasible.

Qualifications

• Experience within MEP design, design coordination or engineering management environments.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical and public health building services systems.
• Experience working on large-scale construction, infrastructure or engineering projects.
• Knowledge of design management processes, technical assurance and risk management principles.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the delivery of MEP design packages from concept through to construction and commissioning.
• Coordinating interfaces between MEP, civil, structural and architectural disciplines.
• Reviewing design submissions to ensure compliance with project standards, specifications and statutory requirements.
• Supporting design assurance, verification and approval processes.
• Participating in design reviews, technical workshops and value engineering initiatives.
• Monitoring design progress and helping resolve technical challenges.
• Collaborating with delivery teams to ensure designs are practical, efficient and buildable.
• Supporting design change management and configuration control processes.
• Maintaining accurate design records, reports and project documentation.
• Building effective relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers and key project stakeholders.
