Job description

We are seeking a patient, empathetic, and experienced mentor to support a Year 5 student who struggles with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

About the Student

Year 5 student currently on a reduced timetable of 1.5 hours per day.

Finds attending school challenging and requires 1:1 adult support to access learning.

Follows a Thrive and play‑based curriculum.

Struggles with emotional regulation, experiences daily dysregulation.

Finds inconsistency upsetting, displays rigid behaviours, and needs to feel in control of situations.

Can become physically aggressive when boundaries feel overwhelming, and separation from family is difficult.

Shows a strong interest in computing and would benefit from sessions that include life skills and computing activities to build confidence and engagement.

Requirements
  • Experience working with children with SEMH, ASD, and complex needs.
  • Skilled in differentiation of delivery and able to adapt sessions to developmental stage.
  • Ability to provide structured, consistent, and engaging sessions that balance life skills, computing, and emotional support.
  • Patient, empathetic, and able to build trust and a positive mentoring relationship.
Details

Schedule: 5 hours per week - 1 hour each afternoon, Monday to Friday.
