Job summary

Apex Recruit Ltd is seeking experienced Mental Health Support Workers to assist in a mental health hospital in Eastbourne. This ongoing temporary role requires confidence in a hospital setting and managing challenging behaviours.

PMVA/MAPPA training and an Enhanced DBS are essential, with the DBS Update Service preferred or willingness to obtain one. The role involves supporting patients with daily routines, promoting wellbeing and safety, and working across day, night and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Experience in mental health, secure care, or similar setting.
• PMVA or MAPPA training is required.
• DBS with Update Service preferred or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred support to patients in hospital.
• Assist with daily routines and activities for patients.
• Promote independence, dignity and emotional wellbeing.
• Observe and report changes in behaviour or wellbeing.
• Follow care plans and risk assessments.
• Support clinical teams to maintain a safe environment.
• Use approved de-escalation techniques when needed.

Job description

Apex Recruit is currently looking for experienced Mental Health Support Workers to work within a mental health hospital based in Eastbourne BN21 area.

This is an ongoing temporary position supporting individuals with complex mental health needs. Applicants must be confident working within a hospital environment and managing behaviours that may challenge. please note currently we are only excepting candidates with PMVA or similiar training.

Main Responsibilities

• Providing person-centred support to patients.
• Supporting patients with daily routines and activities.
• Promoting independence, dignity and emotional wellbeing.
• Observing and reporting changes in behaviour or wellbeing.
• Following individual care plans and risk assessments.
• Supporting clinical and care teams to maintain a safe environment.
• Using approved de-escalation and intervention techniques when required.
• Maintaining accurate records and handover notes.

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience working within mental health, secure care or a similar setting.
• Current PMVA or MAPPA training.
• Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to complete a new DBS.
• Good communication and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
• Flexible availability for day, night and weekend shifts.
• Right to work in the UK.
