Support Workers – Mental Health & Complex Needs

Location: Crewe

Pay Rate: £12.30 - £12.60 per hour

Job Type: Flexible, Full-time or Part-time Shifts Available

About the Role

We are looking for experienced and dedicated Support Workers to join our team providing high-quality care and support to adults with complex mental health needs and challenging behaviours in supported living and residential settings across Crewe.

This is an opportunity to make a real difference to people’s lives while working within a supportive and professional care team. You will be working with individuals with a range of complex needs including mental health conditions, learning disabilities, autism, alcohol and substance misuse issues, and individuals at risk of self-harm.

Responsibilities
  • Provide person-centred care and support tailored to individual needs
  • Manage challenging behaviour in a calm, professional, and compassionate manner
  • Support service users with daily living skills, personal care, and emotional well-being
  • Administer medication in line with care plans and organisational policy
  • Undertake regular welfare checks and maintain clear, accurate records
  • Respond effectively to incidents, including safeguarding concerns and self-harm risks
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team including mental health professionals, social workers, and families
  • Promote independence, dignity, and respect for every individual
Qualifications

We are seeking individuals who are patient, resilient, and confident in working with adults who display complex and sometimes challenging behaviours. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar environment and be passionate about delivering safe, high-quality care.

Essential Requirements
  • A minimum of 1 year’s experience supporting adults with mental health needs and challenging behaviours
  • Experience working with complex service users including autism, learning disabilities, substance misuse, and self-harm risks
  • Current, in-date Ligature Training
  • Current, in-date CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) or equivalent de-escalation training
  • Experience in safely administering medication in a care or residential setting
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, mental health crisis management, and risk assessment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A compassionate, patient, and professional approach
