We have a fantastic opportunity for a Mental Health Support Worker to join the team at HMP Leeds, a busy category B prison located in Leeds Centre. This is a crucial role within the mental health team, making a real difference to patients, and delivering outstanding care. This role focusses on patient wellbeing, and would be a great next step for healthcare assistant or existing support worker.

Hours: This is a full time role, 37.5 hours per week, working Monday - Friday, 08:00 - 16:00.

Salary: This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary of up to £29,723 per annum – depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

• Run psychosocial groups and 1-1s, working with male patients who have been referred into the mental health service
• Working closely with the wider mental health team of 19
• Carry out clinical duties – venepuncture, screenings, ECGs etc
• Deliver low level interventions
• Provide outstanding quality based care to all patients
• Deliver personalised, non‑judgemental care, based on patient feedback
• Contribute to, and implement care packages, assist with health promotion, wellbeing and clinics
• Assist with release and discharge when needed

New Mental Health Support Worker will:

• Ideally have experience within mental health
• Clinical experience, such as venepuncture, ECGs etc would be highly desirable!
• Experience of working within a multi‑disciplinary team
• Ideally hold a NVQ Level 2 or 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, or equivalent – this isn’t essential!
• Experience within a forensic or prison environment would be a bonus
• Have a non‑judgemental and compassionate approach
