Job summary

Hamtun Ward at Antelope House, a 10-bed male inpatient ward in the Southampton area, is part of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The trust promotes nurses to have a powerful voice within the MDT with a continuous drive for improvement, supported by a clinical nurse lead and ward manager.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients, plan, develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care and carry out nursing procedures.
• Provide direct nursing care and carry out nursing procedures.
• Develop and evidence risk assessment and management skills and support high risk individuals through distress.
• Assess patients/clients, plan develop/implement/evaluate programmes of care and carry out nursing procedures.
• Ensure use of nursing knowledge and skills to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patients/clients/family/health needs and promote health and wellbeing.
• Evaluate clinical outcomes and report variance to clinical pathway, protocols, or best practice guidelines.
• Contribute to effective discharge planning and/or referral processes to health care providers and support agencies to meet identified health needs.
• Manage care of patients/clients on a day to day basis and, when required, manage care of all patients/clients in the absence of senior colleagues.
• Be responsible for upholding people's rights under the Mental Health Act 1983.
• Supervise junior staff.

Hamtun Ward at Antelope House is a 10 bedded Male inpatient ward serving the Southampton area. We promote nurses to have a powerful voice within MDT with a continuous drive for improvement by staff. There will be support and leadership guidance from a clinical nurse lead and ward manager.

Main duties of the job
