Job description
Role Overview

Senior Mental Health Practitioner – CAMHS Outreach team (Buckinghamshire & Oxfordshire). Provides individualised home and community treatment packages for children, young people and families with complex needs, working as part of a multi‑disciplinary team across the CAMHS service. Requires on‑call and crisis rota duties, flexible schedules, and proactive engagement with urgent care needs.

Core Responsibilities
  • Provide prompt psychosocial assessments and evidence‑based interventions to prevent hospital admission.
  • Support and supervise junior staff and students, including mentoring and clinical supervision.
  • Collaborate with social care, education, police and voluntary partners to develop integrated care packages.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records, engage in reflective practice and pursue ongoing professional development.
  • Participate in a 7‑day shift rota (8 am–8 pm) and on‑call coverage.
  • Respond to urgent and emergency requests, meeting young people in community or home settings.
Qualifications & Experience

Essential: Relevant clinical qualification, proven experience in child and adolescent mental health settings, ability to work independently and as part of a team, excellent communication and case‑management skills, commitment to safeguarding.

Desirable: Experience with high‑risk or hard‑to‑reach young people, knowledge of integrated care models, leadership or supervisory experience.
