Job description

A job summary for an exciting opportunity in the Lancaster and Morecambe Community Mental Health Team. You will work with service users diagnosed with Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD) and deliver Structured Clinical Management (SCM) in the community setting. Hybrid and flexible working arrangements are available upon discussion with the team.

Responsibilities

• Working for the local CMHT, clinically supervised by Specialist Practitioners in Personality Disorder, you will provide high‑quality interventions for service users with complex emotional and relational needs who have a diagnosis of EUPD.
• You will align with the Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) to provide SCM for a caseload of service users and facilitate and lead groups to support their recovery.
• Promote positive attitudes towards service users with complex emotional needs by offering a responsive and non‑stigmatising service, thereby enhancing inclusion and delivering better outcomes.
• Conduct mental health assessments, including risk assessments, and be proficient in referring to other clinicians within the service or to external services and agencies when necessary.
• Provide a communication structure between GPs, IAPT and secondary mental health services in LSCFT, ensuring the highest possible standards of patient care.
• Advise and support the CMHT Multidisciplinary Team to deliver the highest standards of care for service users with EUPD, including joint working when appropriate.

Qualifications

• Education / Qualifications: Recognised Core Mental Health Professional Qualification (e.g. RMN, SW, OT).
• Knowledge: In‑depth knowledge of mental health problems; knowledge of various personality presentations; detailed understanding of risk and protective factors affecting people with mental health problems; knowledge of medication prescribed for managing mental health issues.
• Experience: Post‑qualification experience of clinical work and assessment with service users experiencing a range of mental health problems; experience working with people diagnosed with a personality disorder; experience working in or knowledge of community mental health service provision.
