Job summary

A healthcare organization in the UK is recruiting an experienced Mental Health Nurse to provide assessments and support for new referrals in secondary care mental health services. The nurse will be responsible for delivering person-centred care, writing clinical reports, and working in a multidisciplinary team. Job description
Overview

Wirral Single Point of Access is recruiting an experienced, qualified Mental Health Nurse (RMHN) to provide assessment and signposting for all new referrals into secondary care mental health services for adults and older adults. The service operates 8am‑6pm, Monday‑Friday across the Wirral.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess organic and functional mental health problems and deliver person‑centred care.
  • Write detailed clinical reports and assess complex patients.
  • Work autonomously as part of a small, dynamic multidisciplinary team.
  • Support the team in the transformation of Community Mental Health Services.
  • Travel across a wide geographical area – access to a car and full driving licence required.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Post‑registration qualified nurse, minimum 1 year experience.
  • Experience working in mental health at least to Band 5 level.
  • Sound working knowledge of mental health disorders and the Mental Health Act.
  • Excellent communication, report‑writing and clinical skills.
Additional Requirements
  • Full driving licence and reliable access to a car.
  • Availability for the 8am‑6pm shift, Monday‑Friday.
Application Process

Shortlisting will be completed on 16 December; interviews are scheduled for 13 January 2026. All new starters commence in post on the fixed start date each month following the Prepare to Care (P2C) induction programme.
