Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration.
  • Experience in mental health nursing required.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and evaluate programmes of care.

Skills

Demonstrable experience of working in mental health setting
Knowledge and experience of adult safeguarding procedures

Job description

We need passionate and experienced mental health nurse to work in a well-established team at a Trust in West midlands.

Description :

Your role will be to act as the key nurse assessing and planning nursing care requirements on a one-to-one basis. You will be the patient advocate, supporting family members and carers to be as involved as required.

To work in accordance with SWFT Nursing Strategy and contribute to achieving SWFT strategic objectives.

To work according to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines as a named nurse or key worker for a defined patient and take responsibility for :

  • Protecting and supporting the health of an individual patient.
  • Assessment of care and health education needs.
  • Development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.
Skills :
  • Demonstrable experience of working in mental health setting
  • Knowledge and experience of adult safeguarding procedures
  • Restraint of patients using approved techniques
  • Handling patient valuables and storing appropriately
  • Ability to deal with emotional and distressing situations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Respects the privacy and dignity of individual
  • Ability to manage difficult situations
  • Ability to cope with exposure to aggressive behaviour
  • The ability to plan own workload
  • To have knowledge of Mental Health presentations and appropriate interventions.
  • NMC Code of Conduct.
  • Knowledge of risk management and how to plan care to account for risk.
