Job description

Are you a University graduate? Are you interested in supporting children with mental health challenges? Are you passionate about helping others, with a patient and encouraging approach?

A Specialist School in Reading are seeking a dedicated Graduate to join their team as a Mental Health & Behaviour Support Assistant. The school caters for children aged 4-16 who face social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges, including attachment disorders, ADHD, anxiety, trauma, and low self-esteem.

  • Encourage academic progress and provide emotional support.
  • Manage and respond to challenging behaviours caused by SEMH needs.
  • Identify individual needs and triggers, and help guide students to overcome obstacles.
  • Promote positive decision-making, reducing anti-social behaviours, and increase academic performance through trauma-informed practices.

This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a supportive specialist environment. By engaging with restorative and trauma-informed practices, you will build a strong foundation for a future career in Psychology, Therapy, Counselling, or Social Work.
