Job summary

Glanua is seeking an MEICA Project Manager to lead the Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation scope on water and wastewater infrastructure projects from design through to handover. You will manage programme, commercial and HSQE aspects while driving a one-team culture across disciplines.

Based in the UK, you will mentor staff, coordinate with clients and suppliers, and implement Lean Construction and Last Planner techniques to optimise delivery.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years in MEICA/project management in water/wastewater.
  • Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental Eng or Level 8 Honours in Environmental Science or Chemistry.
  • Extensive knowledge of Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations.
  • MEICA experience: process systems, control panels, electricals, commissioning.
  • Experience in client/supplier relations and financial negotiations.
  • Proficient with MS Project; MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Lead MEICA scope on one or more projects and manage day-to-day delivery.
  • Ensure on-site HSE standards and sustainability policies are followed.
  • Collaborate with clients, client representatives and third-party agencies.
  • Coordinate PSDP; act as PSCS and maintain on-site documentation.
  • Oversee procurement, subcontracting, and project cashflow.
  • Provide training and mentoring; develop team development plans.
  • Support tendering opportunities and capture lessons learned.

The Role:


As MEICA Project Manager, you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team to bring water and wastewater infrastructure projects from design through to construction, commissioning, and handover to the client. Leading the Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA) Engineering scope of works on the project, or series of smaller projects you will be involved in all day-to-day aspects of delivery including programme management, commercial management and HSQE development and awareness.


You will lead in a one-team culture while actively contributing to your own skills and experience. Your role will be key in supporting the Contracts Manager to achieve the outcomes of the project. Main Duties and Responsibilities:


The main duties and responsibilities of the MEICA Project Manager are outlined as follows:



  • Work as part of a team in the delivery of one or more projects at any one time, embracing the ethos of a \"one team\" culture.

  • Ensure Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability standards, policies and procedures are always adhered to on-site.

  • Work closely and collaborate with all key stakeholders including clients, client representatives and third-party agencies.

  • Lead the construction team in all aspects of the MEICA scope of works.

  • Liaise closely and support other engineering disciplines including civil/building engineering and the process teams.

  • Facilitate the co-ordination role of the PSDP for live projects with internal and external designers. Represent the company as PSCS on live sites within your remit and co-ordinate all required documentation to be present on-site and up to date.

  • Ensure best practice project management techniques are used such as Lean Construction and Last Planner.

  • Monitor project performance including risk and opportunities. Mitigate/reduce risk where possible and manage opportunities.

  • Report on the monthly performance of your project to the framework manager including performance against programme, budget and HSQE.

  • Lead the team in the procurement of supplies and sub-contracts on time and within budget.

  • Manage cashflow on projects and work with the Contracts Manager/ Commercial Manager to ensure interim payment applications are submitted on-time to the client.

  • Build and promote industry-leading teams by providing training and mentoring of staff including setting out development plans for your team.

  • Provide assistance, oversight and guidance from time to time on tendering opportunities for new upcoming projects.

  • Respond to and address any client and stakeholder complaints in a timely manner. Obtain client satisfaction surveys and provide any feedback on how to improve our client satisfaction.

  • Seek to improve the project delivery process by providing lessons learned feedback and innovative solutions for adoption on future projects.

  • Keep appraised of the latest standards and technology through continuous professional development (CPD).

  • Other duties as required from time to time.


Knowledge, Skills and Experience:


The main knowledge, skills and experience required of the MEICA Project Manager are outlined as follows:



  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years' experience working in a similar role, preferably in the water and wastewater industry.

  • Minimum Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental Engineering or Level 8 Honours Degree in Environmental Science or Chemistry with extensive industry experience.

  • Extensive working knowledge of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations.

  • Holder of a certificate in Managing Safely for Construction Managers preferable but not essential.

  • Experienced in MEICA engineering works such as process systems mechanical installation, control panels, electrical installations, commissioning and process proving activities.

  • Ability to engage with the customer as well as suppliers and sub-contractors in financial negotiations and final account agreements.

  • Good working knowledge of programme management software such as Microsoft Project.

  • Ability to prepare baseline programmes and programme updates.

  • Ability to use own initiative, problem solve and adjust as issues arise during project delivery.

  • Working knowledge of MS packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Strong communication skills with a high level of motivation.

  • Full Driving License.
