Overview

Our Client has a requirement for a MEICA Project Engineer, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Manchester.

Role Purpose

To deliver end-to-end Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA) projects across water, wastewater, and bioresources workstreams. The Project Engineer will manage design, procurement, and site delivery, ensuring all safety, quality, technical, and contractual requirements are met in line with Client' framework agreement.

Responsibilities
  • Support MSP operations and ensure compliance with Client governance and approval processes.
  • Provide consistent and accurate reporting of project performance and risks.
  • Manage discipline engineers, designers, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Lead and review design at concept, definition, and detailed stages.
  • Produce and manage engineering specifications, scopes of work, and technical deliverables.
  • Oversee subcontractor design, installation, and commissioning activities.
  • Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, ALMs, and site surveys.
  • Manage design and procurement to agreed budgets and schedules.
  • Conduct supplier assessments, technical evaluations, and performance reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with Client and Contractor SHEQ procedures and promote best practice on site.
  • Contribute to site safety documentation (CPP / RAMS) and review subcontractor safety plans.
  • Participate in planning sessions, progress meetings, and audits to drive continuous improvement.
Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications
  • HNC / HND or Degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Proven experience delivering water industry projects (clean or wastewater).
  • Strong understanding of CDM Regulations and Construction Management (Principal Contractor / Designer roles).
  • Experience managing multi-discipline MEICA projects from concept to completion.
  • Excellent knowledge of WIMES, British / European Standards, and client specifications.
  • CSCS and Water Hygiene Cards required.
  • Strong commercial awareness and contract management understanding.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to identify risks, provide solutions, and prioritise effectively in a dynamic environment.
