Job description

Title: Mechanical, Electrical & HVAC (MEH) Planner
About Vulcain Engineering

Vulcain Engineering Ltd, our UK business, is well positioned within the UK Nuclear industry. We provide the flexibility our clients demand by working at our customers’ sites in the UK and Europe as well as carrying out work remotely on their behalf. We are dedicated to providing the highest level of organisational support to key projects.

Vulcain Engineering was founded in the mid-2000s to specialise in energy and environment projects. Our knowledge of the energy and environment sector means we can support our customers at all stages of the engineering‑procurement‑construction‑commissioning (EPCC) project lifecycle.

With operations in 16 countries and employing over 6,000 staff worldwide, our business responds to the needs of our clients by delivering expertise in the form of high added value engineering services.

MEH Planner - Nuclear

Vulcain Engineering UK are seeking a Planner (MEH) to join our PMO division, who are providing the client‑side professional services for pioneer nuclear new build projects in the UK.

This position will sit within the MEH (Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC) Central Planning Team - part of the Project Delivery Organisation (PDO) for the project and will be part of the specialist function that works alongside area management and delivery integration functions.

Some of the main responsibilities of the Planner (MEH) will include:

  • Develop, integrate, and maintain detailed construction schedules in Primavera 6 (P6), across the mechanical, electrical, and HVAC (MEH) disciplines.
  • Ensure the schedules are updated when required to reflect work progress and performance, to an agreed timeframe defined by the Central Controls Team.
  • Collaborate with site teams and contractors, contributing to 16‑week lookaheads, 4D planning, and schedule performance tracking.
  • Create fully logic‑linked work plans aligned to the Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and utilising approved construction techniques.
  • Assist in the Trend & Change process, including analysis of schedule impact, generating performance indicators and providing feedback on areas of risk and opportunities.
  • Ensure that contractor schedules are produced in accordance with processes and ensure that they align to the forecast position.
  • Co‑ordinate and produce schedule reports to a defined reporting cycle.

This is a hands‑on, site‑based role requiring close collaboration with construction, planning, and logistics teams. It’s an opportunity for you to be an integral part of Europe’s largest infrastructure project in decades – contributing to the UK’s future low‑carbon ambitions. The MEH Planner will work in a high‑performance culture alongside industry leaders, whilst gaining exposure to innovative tools like 4D/5D planning.

Preferred Profile:
  • Demonstratable experience in engineering or construction planning - in particular on largescale and complex MEH (Mechanical, Electrical & HVAC) packages, during the construction phases.
  • Industry exposure across Nuclear or another highly regulated heavy industry, such as; Oil and Gas, Downstream, Petrochemical or Pharmaceutical.
  • Knowledge of EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) project environments and integrated planning - preferably throughout the full project lifecycle (inception, pre‑FEED, FEED, construction, commissioning).
  • Expert knowledge of Primavera P6 schedule development and progress monitoring.
  • Understanding of site safety culture, and ideally nuclear/conventional safety principles.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate costs/data in a well‑structured manner.
  • Confident managing a multitude of stakeholders, including senior leadership, both internally and externally, as well as the ability to challenge and consult when required.
  • You will have indefinite and independent right to work in the UK, due to the high level of security clearance required on several of our UK Nuclear sites.

Please note that visa sponsorship is not guaranteed and is assessed on a case‑by‑case basis, depending on role criticality and project needs. Many of our UK projects require high‑level security clearance, meaning we can often only consider candidates with an existing, indefinite right to work in the UK. Exceptionally, we may consider visa sponsorship for applicants with niche experience aligned to our core work (e.g. EPR/nuclear new build).

We offer a competitive salary tailored to your experience and background. Whether you're earlier in your career or bring more senior‑level expertise.

We also offer a benefits package, both standard and enhanced, which is designed to support your wellbeing, development, and financial future, including:

  • 25 Days Annual Leave + Bank Holidays, with the ability to swap bank holidays for cultural or religious celebrations
  • Enhanced Maternity, Paternity, Adoption and Neonatal Care Leave
  • Employee Referral Scheme
  • Private Medical & Dental Insurance
  • Electric Vehicle Scheme
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Training & Development, including additional qualifications and accreditations relevant to your role
  • Travel Insurance – for both business and personal travel
  • Employee Assistance Programme

At Vulcain Engineering, we offer more than just a job, we offer a rewarding career with endless opportunities for growth and development. You'll be part of a talented team of professionals working on exciting and meaningful projects and making a real impact to the nuclear industry.

We offer a dynamic and collaborative work environment where your talents are valued, and your contributions are recognised.
