Job summary

Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals seeks an innovative Medicines Optimisation Dietitian to join Sutton Health and Care Adult Dietetic Service. The role spans primary care, community services and the wider health system to optimise nutritional prescribing for adults.

You will collaborate with GP practices, Primary Care Networks and care providers to promote evidence-based prescribing of oral nutrition supplements. The post holder will contribute to education and supervise dietetic students.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree or post graduate diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics.
• Health and Care Profissional Council (HCPC) registration.
• Member of British Dietetic Association (BDA).
• Experience in nutrition support and prescribing of oral nutrition supplements.
• Experience contributing to policy, procedures, guidelines and clinical standards development.
• Experience of undertaking clinical audits and working in community settings.

Responsibilities

• Lead initiatives to improve the quality, safety and cost-effectiveness of oral nutritional supplement prescribing.
• Work with GP practices, care homes and other professionals to optimise nutritional prescribing.
• Review patients prescribed nutritional products and make evidence-based recommendations.
• Deliver training to GPs, practice nurses, pharmacists and care home staff on malnutrition and prescribing.
• Act as expert source of advice on nutrition support and medicines optimisation for nutritional products.
• Analyse prescribing activity and undertake audits to demonstrate clinical outcomes and cost savings.
• Develop, review and implement local guidelines, policies and pathways.
