Salary : £12.88

Hours: 37.5 hours

Location: Sir John Kirk Close Surgery but may be required to work across Nexus HealthGroup

Ourprescriptions process is evolving. In your role as Medicines Management Team Administrator provide a high level of administrative support across the organisation to our clinical team, and to our patients.

You will:

  • Process repeat prescription requests to a high standard with, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Efficiently liaise with patients, clinicians (internal and external), and service users with regards to prescription queries.
  • Monitor the prescription email inbox, ensuring all emails are actioned and/or forwarded to the appropriate team/personnel on a daily basis.
  • To provide administrative support to the clinical team.
  • To ensure patients are informed of any outcomes of their care as directed by the clinical team.

5 weeks increasing to 27 days after 5 years service with Nexus

Main duties of the job
  • Processing prescription requests in line with agreed protocols and to include turnaround time (i.e. 48 working hours), accuracy and any follow up actions.
  • Liaising with patients, pharmacies, hospitals and other care providers regarding prescription requests as necessary.
  • Working with clinicians and practice staff in resolution of prescription queries.
  • Adhering to the processes for checking patients records for chronic diseases, drug monitoring and other alerts and arrange any relevant reviews/checks/tests as required.
  • Work within the guidelines set by Nexus to ensure that the practice is safe, efficient and provides the best possible care for patients.
  • Work in accordance with agreed standards of service delivery and within the team policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Ensure correct governance processes are adhered to in the handling and management of patient records and use of the electronic patient appointment system.
  • Maintain integrity in compliance with patient confidentiality and the Data Protection Act 2018.
  • Comply with the policies and guidelines around medical records.
  • Ensure accurate read codes are used when entering data into the patients electronic records held within the Nexus clinical system.
  • Be proficient with a variety of electronic record systems required to undertake this.
  • Appropriately use practice equipment including IT software.
  • Use initiative and good judgement at all times.

Nexus was formed in 2016 with the merging of established local practices in Southwark. We look after a practice population of more than 76,000 patients spread across our 8 sites. Our clinical approach is based on a foundation of clinical excellence, clinical leadership, and clinical governance shaped by the needs and challenges of our local population. We are a well recognised training organisation for future GPs and nurses. We are focused on the learning and development of our clinical and non‑clinical staff.

We operate 8 GP Practice sites across north Southwark that are geographically close and well served by local transport hubs at London Bridge, Elephant & Castle and Canada Water. We share a single patient list but our patients are attached to a specific site and are looked after by local multidisciplinary teams which include GPs, Nurses, Physicians Assistants, Paramedics, ANPs and Pharmacists. Our site based teams are supported by Managers and local administration staff. Our GP Partners have overall clinical and administrative responsibility for Nexus Health Group and are supported by a Senior Management Team and centralised HR, IT, clinical administration functions.

Nexus works closely with our local PCN and 2 of our GP Partners are PCN clinical directors.
