Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Pharmacy Technician to join the Medicines Efficiency Team at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. This role plays a key part in delivering the Trust’s Medicines Efficiency Programme, supporting cost‑effective prescribing and optimising medicines use across all sites.

The post holder will work closely with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and multidisciplinary clinical teams to implement medicines switches, support home‑care services, analyse prescribing data, and ensure compliance with medicines governance processes.

You will contribute to efficiency initiatives while maintaining a strong focus on patient safety and quality of care. This role is ideal for a proactive, organised pharmacy technician with a passion for improving medicines optimisation and delivering value within the NHS.

Key responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of the Trust’s Medicines Efficiency Programme by implementing agreed medicines switches and optimising home‑care services to ensure safe, cost‑effective use of medicines.
  • Accurately process home‑care orders and invoices in line with governance and contractual requirements.
  • Analyse prescribing and financial data to identify efficiency opportunities and support the implementation of cost‑saving initiatives.
  • Provide technical support to pharmacy and clinical teams, including final accuracy checking of prescriptions where accredited.
  • Deputise for the Lead Pharmacy Technician when required and support the training, mentoring, and development of junior staff.
  • Contribute to audits, KPI reporting, service development projects and continuous improvement initiatives across the pharmacy service.
  • Participate in rota commitments, including weekends and bank holidays.
