Medical Secretary Team Leader

We are looking for a confident and experienced Medical Secretary Team Leader to manage a busy secretarial team and support a group of consultants in delivering outstanding patient care. This role combines hands‑on secretarial duties with leadership responsibilities, ensuring smooth day‑to‑day operations, high standards of service, and effective coordination across consultant practices.

Team Leadership & Line Management
  • Manage recruitment, annual leave, sickness absence, and performance reviews.
  • Conduct objective setting and support development of team members.
Operational Oversight
  • Ensure efficient monthly consultant billing and adherence to hospital policies.
  • Represent the department in hospital‑wide meetings and communicate updates to the team.
  • Maintain compliance with Health & Safety, Information Governance, and operational procedures.
IT & Systems Management
  • Oversee department IT needs including system licences, dictation equipment, and troubleshooting.
  • Liaise with IT support for ongoing developments and issues.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Proven experience in administration within a hospital setting.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
