A leading healthcare institution in Liverpool is seeking a detailed-oriented Medical Secretary to provide comprehensive secretarial support to clinical teams. Responsibilities include transcribing letters, managing clinic templates, and liaising with patients and healthcare providers. The ideal candidate has NHS experience, excellent communication, organisational skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Flexible working arrangements are available.
To provide a comprehensive secretarial service to consultants and speciality teams including transcribing (audio typing) letters on behalf of the clinical team, arranging follow‑up arrangements, managing the creation, reducing and cancellation of clinic templates on behalf of clinicians, liaising with patients, GPs and other trusts via telephone and email, relaying messages to clinicians, responding to queries in a timely manner, managing and maintaining 18‑week pathways including tertiary referrals to external trusts, ensuring accurate recording on the PAS system, keeping track of referrals, arranging follow‑up appointments in conjunction with the RTT patient pathway, keeping a diary up to date, arranging appointments, travel and accommodation, operating an effective bring‑forward system and filing system, preparing presentation documents, using relevant packages, arranging meetings, setting agendas, circulating supporting papers, taking minutes at meetings, informing consultants of annual leave and study leave, organising consultants' admissions, adding and cancelling patients to the waiting list as appropriate, liaising with the waiting list office, anaesthetic department and ward, completing and amending theatre lists appropriately, typing dictation from audio transcriptions of clinical correspondence and documentation, typing discharge summaries as appropriate, and maintaining an effective track on inpatient referrals to ensure patients are reviewed promptly.
