A healthcare practice in Rotherham is seeking a Medical Receptionist to ensure the reception duties are performed efficiently while providing excellent customer service. We are looking for a Medical Receptionist to join our practice team.
You will be part of our Reception team ensuring all reception duties are performed efficiently and to the required standard, meeting objectives of the Practice. You will strive to provide excellent customer service in a caring and empathic manner.
Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointments system including the use of care navigation.
Processing personal and confidential requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations and ensuring all callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional.
Taking messages and passing on information via tasks, notifications, face to face or via telephone.
Keeping the Reception area tidy and notice boards and leaflet displays free from obstructions and clutter.
Computer data entry/data allocation and collation: processing and recording information in accordance with Practice procedures.
Providing clerical assistance as required, including data processing, filing, photocopying and scanning.
Undertaking any other additional responsibilities appropriate within the Receptionist remit.

The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by members of the practice administration team may include any or all of the items in the following list. Duties may be varied from time to time under the direction of the Reception Manager or Practice Manager depending on current and evolving practice workload and staffing levels:
Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system using care navigation.
Processing personal and confidential requests for appointments, visits, queries and telephone consultations.
Advise patients of relevant charges for non NHS services.
Accurately record changes or updates to patient demographics.
New patient registrations.
Give test results out to patients as authorised by the GP.
Taking messages and passing on information via tasks, notifications, face to face or via telephone.
Provide clerical assistance as required.
Filing and retrieving paperwork.
Dealing with confidential waste and clinical waste appropriately.
Adhering to Practice Policies and Protocols.
Undertaking any other additional duties where appropriate to the post as requested by the Partners or the Practice Manager.
Covering annual leave/sickness.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
