A local healthcare provider in Rickmansworth seeks a Medical Receptionist responsible for a range of duties including booking appointments, greeting patients, and managing healthcare records. Candidates must have prior experience in a GP practice and hold at least an NVQ level 2 in health & social care. The role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure. A flexible approach to cover staff shortages is essential.
To be responsible for undertaking a wide range ofreception duties and the provision of general support to the patients and doctors. Dutiescan include, but are not limited to, booking appointments, greeting, directing andassisting patients, patient registrations, scanning, acting on tasks and the processingof information (electronic and hardcopy) and prescriptions.
A receptionist's job is extremely varied, busy and fast paced. Duties will range from booking appointments to issuing prescriptions and dealing with an array of queries. You may be answering calls and assisting patients with completing our online forms or you could be on the front desk dealing with patients face to face. You could be scanning or managing tasks.
We are looking for 2 receptionists to cover 15 hours per week but you must also be prepared to cover other staff when they are on holiday which is a regular occurrence. Each 5 hour shift will start either at 08:00, 08:30 or 13:30. You will be asked to work at any of our 3 sites in Rickmansworth or Chorleywood.
The Gade & Chorleywood Health Centres, with around 20,000 patients, consists of 2 recently merged surgeries which are based across 3 sites in Rickmansworth & Chorleywood. We have 6 partners, 8 salaried GP's and several nurses, HCA's, Phlebotomists & Clinical Pharmacists plus a Physician Assistant. We also have around 32 administrative and reception staff and as a training practice we regularly have GP's in training working with us.
The followingare the key responsibilities of the Medical Receptionist. There may be onoccasion a requirement to carry out other tasks but this will be dependent uponfactors such as capability, workload and staffing levels:
Answer incoming calls and effectively deal withthe callers request
Manage all requests for appointments for thedoctors, nurses and other health professionals
Signpost patients to the correct service
Initiate contact with, and respond to, requestsfrom patients, team members and external agencies
Read code data, when appropriate; e.g. when atest result has been communicated to a patient
Input data into the patients healthcarerecords as necessary
Process temporary or permanent registrations,as required, and in accordance with practice protocol
Support health promotion and assist in ensuringthe promotional material, on allocated notice boards, is current
Provide support in the management of repeatprescriptions, ensuring they are processed accurately and within the agreedtimeframe
Scanning of patient related documentation andattaching scanned documents to patients healthcare records
Provide support to all clinical staff withgeneral requests
Ensure that tasks and queries are actioned,within a reasonable timeframe
Monitor and maintain the reception area
Adhere to the opening and closing procedures,in accordance with practice protocol
Attend essential practice meetings (evenwhen they occur at a time when the employee is not working)
