Job description

We are a friendly and well-established GP practice seeking two motivated and approachable Medical Receptionists to join our dedicated primary care team. These part-time roles are for 25 hours per week, worked across 5 days, and are ideal for individuals who are organised, patient-focused, and able to work effectively in a busy GP practice environment.

As the first point of contact for patients, you will play a vital role in delivering a high standard of care and customer service, supporting both patients and clinical staff, and helping ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the practice.

Main duties of the job

The Receptionist will be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team. Duties can include, but are not limited to, greeting and directing patients, the effective use of the appointment system, booking appointments, the processing of information (electronic and hard copy) in a timely manner and in accordance with current policies, assisting patients as required and supporting the administration team with patient registration.

The post-holder will act as the central point of contact for patients, be responsible for the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, liaise with multi‑disciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.

The GP Suite is a friendly, well‑established GP practice located in Jarrow, serving a patient population of approximately 4,550. Our clinical team includes three GP Partners, two Advanced Clinical Practitioners and two Practice Nurses, all of whom are supported by an excellent Administration, Reception and Management team.

The role also involves supporting the clinical and administrative teams, maintaining confidentiality at all times, and helping ensure the smooth day‑to‑day running of the GP practice in a busy primary care environment.
