Asa Medical Receptionist, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient service and contributing to the smooth operation of our practice. You will be responsible for handling various administrative tasks, ensuring patients receive the care and support they need and maintaining a friendly and welcoming environment.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Interaction: Utilise your experience in patient-facing roles to interact with patients professionally, displaying friendliness, patience, and understanding.
  • Telephone Communication: Be confident and efficient in handling phone calls, addressing inquiries, scheduling appointments and directing calls to the appropriate personnel.
  • IT Proficiency: Demonstrate a good level of IT skills.
  • Administrative Tasks: Follow established procedures and instructions for handling tasks accurately and methodically.
  • Organisation and Communication: Possess strong organisational and communication skills to coordinate patient appointments, relay messages to healthcare providers and maintain an organised front desk area.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with all members of our healthcare team, demonstrating flexibility and the ability to work effectively with various individuals.

Handle patient inquiries in person, by phone or via email.

Collect and process patient information.

Prepare and manage correspondence, reports and other documentation.

Support clinicians with administrative needs.

Ensure waiting area and reception desk are clean, organised, and stocked with necessary materials.

Liaise with other healthcare professionals, pharmacies and laboratories as required.

Adhere to all relevant healthcare, data protection, and privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR).

Follow clinic protocols for patient safety and infection control.

Experience

  • Experience using clinical systems such as EMIS, Docman or Similar.
Qualifications
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths.
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Business Administration or Customer Service or equivalent
