Position Statement

The Primary Care Scheduler cordially and efficiently receives patient phone calls to ascertain and manage the patient’s needs while maintaining provider’s schedules in an effective manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Answers telephones, takes, and relays accurate messages via electronic health record system, and complies with requests according to established policies and procedures.
  • Performs call confirmations for appointments.
  • Updates schedules, books appointments, and coordinates appointments with other disciplines as needed.
  • Reviews “no shows” and “missed appointments” and notifies patients by phone and/or letter. Calls patients to reschedule any missed appointments.
  • Manages patients’ requests for immunizations, and med lists, etc. Inputs non-clinical data at the request of nursing staff and manager.
  • Sends outgoing faxes and distributes incoming faxes and mail.
  • Assists with patient mailings and prepares outgoing mail. Prepare normal lab and x‑ray result letters to patients.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • High school diploma required.
  • Possesses excellent organizational skills paired with verbal, written and communication skills.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and capability to work effectively with all staff.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
  • Shows competency in computer skills.
  • Understands medical terminology.
  • Health care setting experience in a clinic setting is preferred.
Pay Information:

$18.55 - $23.23 hourly
