About the role

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will provide essential support to the laboratory, assisting with a range of duties to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of our rapid response laboratory, covering Haematology, Coagulation, biochemistry, infectious sciences and blood transfusion; over a 24/7 service. Medical laboratory assistants work at the forefront of a pathology laboratory in the sample reception area, receiving samples from service users. The role involves the receipt and triage of blood samples and bodily fluids, booking the requests on to the Laboratory Information System and ensuring the samples are prepared for analysis and processed in a timely manner. Applications are invited from self-motivated individuals with an interest in working in a laboratory orientated environment. You must possess a wide range of skills demonstrating good numeracy and literacy, a high standard of verbal and written English, computer, keyboard skills and attention to detail. A degree of physical effort is required, and potential applicants must be able to multi-task and work well under pressure. You must have a flexible approach to hours and work being undertaken.
