A healthcare organization in Grimsby is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant to support the pathology laboratory team. The role involves performing laboratory tasks under supervision, maintaining laboratory standards, and working with various specimens. The ideal candidate will possess NVQ Level II or equivalent and demonstrate good organizational skills. This position requires a flexible schedule including late shifts and weekends.
Path Links is a networked NHS Pathology service offering a wide range of diagnostic investigations on tissue, blood, and fluid samples. All Path Links laboratories are accredited to United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) ISO 15189 standards.
A Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) is an integral part of a pathology laboratory team and works closely with Biomedical Scientists to deliver a first class diagnostic service to medical professionals. The role is centered around ensuring patients receive the best level of care through accurate analysis of their samples and the results that inform clinical decisions.
The position is based within a Microbiology team, providing support to both clinicians and general practitioners. Delegated work is performed under the direct and indirect supervision of a State Registered Biomedical Scientist (BMS) using Standard Operating Procedures.
The role requires a flexible schedule, including weekday late shifts and weekend work. All shifts are planned and communicated in advance.
