Job Summary

Path Links is a networked NHS Pathology service offering a wide range of diagnostic investigations on tissue, blood, and fluid samples. All Path Links laboratories are accredited to United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) ISO 15189 standards.
A Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) is an integral part of a pathology laboratory team. An MLA supports Biomedical Scientists in delivering a first‑class diagnostic service to medical professionals.

  • Perform delegated work and duties under the direct and indirect supervision of a State Registered Biomedical Scientist (BMS) utilising Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Undertake extensive in‑house training and competency assessments to achieve a level of knowledge equivalent to an NVQ Level II qualification.
  • Work with a variety of specimen types and equipment to deliver analytical results, including general laboratory duties such as cleaning, stock management and equipment maintenance.
  • Participate in a weekday late shift and weekend rota, including public holidays, with flexibility in availability.
