The Role:

We have an amazing opportunity to join the dynamic and experienced team of professionals at TFP Nurture Fertility. We are looking for a driven, dynamic, and hands-on Medical Director and Person Responsible who will lead the clinic alongside the General Manager and the clinic leadership team to new and exciting levels to become a leading clinic in the UK and Europe.

The Medical Director is responsible for delivering and maintaining the highest standard of clinical and patient care within the clinic, alongside supporting its commercial success. As we continue to grow the business, identify new and exciting opportunities and expand the research and teaching programme with the University of Oxford, for the highly acclaimed MSC course. The role holder will be responsible for managing this key partnership that creates impact for our business, our patients and the team.

Key Responsibilities:

This role combines clinical expertise, mentoring, leadership, patient care, and business support, working closely with the General Manager (GM) and the leadership team to achieve key performance indicators (KPIs) and foster continuous improvement. You will be involved in hands‑on clinical practice, managing situations outside of standard operating procedures, participating in on‑call rotas, and leading the clinical team to deliver exceptional patient care. Additionally, you will be integral to developing and optimising best practices, managing the clinic’s operations, and ensuring compliance with HFEA regulations.

Clinical
  • To be skilled at initial consultations, review consultations, egg collections, embryo transfers, IUIs, trans‑vaginal ultrasound scanning
  • Management and participation in an on‑call and weekend rota for out of hours queries and procedures
  • To be skilled in saline sonography / hycosy / endometrial biopsy procedures
  • To be currently trained in Advanced Life Support
  • To work with the Patient Support Management team to ensure clinical rotas and job planning fulfil clinic/patient needs and requirements to deliver exceptional patient care
Management
  • To actively lead, manage and develop the clinical team
  • To take ownership on all aspects of performance management with team members, ensuring alignment with TFP HR policies
  • To work closely with rest of the clinic leadership team, and support a culture of collaborative working
  • To support the General Manager in maintaining a flat organisation and actively encourage engagement from all team members
Planning and organising
  • To work closely with the General Manager, actively participate in strategy development and decisions about resource allocation and organisational development.
  • To oversee and coordinate patient throughput between the clinic and any satellite services.
  • To be actively involved with NHS ICB contracts, tenders and review meetings where necessary
  • To manage the clinical area resources, including staff, with a view to achieving the clinic’s objectives, and to ensure cost‑effective work practices
Operations management, compliance management, customer service and support
  • To support the General Manager in the management of the clinic
  • To identify future medical talent for potential recruitment into a TFP clinic
  • To work with the Country Medical Lead in order to implement best clinical practice into the clinic
  • To assist and support patient management and service delivery by providing advice from the clinical and clinic perspective.
  • To develop and maintain systems and processes which ensure that the patients’ experience of the clinic exceeds expectations. This involves the patients’ sense of care, control, value and cost amongst others
  • To manage situations in the clinic not covered by standard operating procedures.
  • To contribute to the holistic approach to patient care that the clinic endeavours to provide.
  • To take part in the rota of duties and to ensure cover in the clinical area.
Analysis and reporting
  • To generate statistics for performance monitoring and report them as appropriate.
  • To regularly assess available statistics and clinical information in order to identify opportunities to improve the clinical services of the clinic.
  • To devise action plans based on the analysis of data
  • To attend Medical Director and KPI meetings
Liaison
  • To ensure that communication and cooperation with other functional areas across TFP is effective.
  • To ensure that information to colleagues, patients, and the general public is accurate and appropriate within the area of responsibility.
  • To actively cultivate relations with referring consultants and NHS Fertility clinics
  • To maintain excellent relationships with contracted clinical teams, like Anaesthetists and Counsellors
  • To maintain excellent relationships with the university team based on site, and lead on the planning of the lectures and new research projects
Research, continuous improvement and quality management
  • To be involved in the planning, review, execution and reporting of research projects involving the clinical area and to ascertain regulatory compliance.
  • To take an active lead in identifying research and development opportunities/proposals in clinical areas.
  • To work closely with the Quality Manager and General Manager in running the Quality Management Review
  • To take the lead with the Quality Manager and General Manager in HFEA/ISO inspections
  • To actively support the Quality Manager in leading investigations
Person Responsible
  • To take overall responsibility for ensuring the clinic and it’s staff comply with the HFE Act.
  • Oversee clinic activities, ensuring staff have an appropriate level of training to fulfil their roles and ensuring they comply with HFEA clinic inspections.
  • To take responsibility for submitting paperwork, fees and data to the HFEA in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate clear leadership in objective decision making
  • Demonstrate clear understanding and knowledge of HFEA Code of Practice
  • Excellent communication skills

This role is essential to supporting the clinic’s growth and maintaining its reputation for excellence in patient care. You will collaborate with a skilled leadership team to ensure that TFP Nurture Fertility leads the way in fertility care and innovation, all while meeting organizational goals and upholding high standards of clinical practice.

Requirements
Essential education and qualifications:
  • Medical degree
  • GMC registration
  • Subspecialty trained
  • Extensive clinical experience (minimum 5 years) in a large Fertility unit
  • Strong working knowledge of the HFEA Code of Practice
  • Understanding of the biology and scientific evidence behind clinical practice
Experience and knowledge:
  • In‑depth understanding of IVF treatment complexities and patient pathways
  • Well‑networked within the UK Fertility sector
  • Strong experience in large IVF clinics with multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to apply quality assurance and clinical performance monitoring
Skills and abilities:
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills, with sound decision‑making
  • Clear communicator, able to explain complex concepts across all business levels
  • Organised, flexible, and self‑motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Natural team player with a high level of resilience and patient‑focused approach
  • Proven supervisory, coaching, and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and quality assurance standards

Salary: Depending on experience

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week - rotational weekends and on‑call required

Pension: Dual contribution pension scheme
