Overview

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

Position

This is a full time (40) permanent position.

Role

Greater Glasgow and Clyde are looking for a Consultant Pathologist who has, or is willing to develop, special interests in gynaecological pathology and gastrointestinal pathology. There are opportunities to contribute to other teams in the department following discussion with Head of Service.

This replacement post, based at the Laboratory Medicine Building within the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Campus, will have shared responsibility with 47 consultant colleagues for the provision of specialist diagnostic pathology services. The post holder will have full GMC specialist registration and completion for FRCPath part 2.

About the department

We are one of the largest single site Pathology services in the UK, receiving over 108227 requests annually. We are committed to innovation including transition to full digitisation of histopathology services. The department is based in a modern laboratory building (2012) and provides local, regional and some national services. We are co-located and work closely with Molecular Diagnostics for the provision of integrated reporting. An interest in teaching/research is encouraged.
