ASA Recruitment seeks a Media Manager in Edinburgh on a hybrid basis, for an initial contract until June 2027 (with potential extensions) at a rate of c.£200-£250 inside IR35, based on experience.

The role involves supporting strategic comms planning, handling media and stakeholder relations, and delivering dynamic content across channels. After the first months, out-of-hours duty coverage may be required.

ASA Recruitment’s client, a Public Sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Media Manager on a hybrid basis, on an initial contract until June 2027 (with potential extensions) on a rate of c.£200-250 inside of IR35 (based on experience).

Responsibilities:

• Supporting strategic comms planning, providing handling advice and support for stakeholders on maximising audience reach for significant announcements or events via established media, social media and other channels, while anticipating and mitigating presentational risks/challenges.
• Delivering media relations services including: drafting, publishing and promoting news releases and other written content; designing and delivering external media opportunities and other ‘proactive’ content-capture events; and responding – in writing and at times by verbal briefing of journalists – to requests for information, official comment and interviews.
• Creating, sharing and evaluating dynamic content – including photo and video capture – through social media channels.
• Playing an active role in campaigns, working alongside marketing and insight colleagues.
• After the first few months of service, participating in the out-of-hours duty media manager system, including evening, weekend and public holiday working.

Essential Experience:

• The ability to build and maintain relationships, while working with journalists and other key influencers to inform the public of the policies, positions and record.
• An understanding of the changing way in which content is created and consumed and the ability to create dynamic content for a variety of channels.
• The ability to maintain personal resilience through periods of sustained pressure caused by external events, workloads and resource challenges.
• The ability to identify potential problems and react quickly, ensuring officials receive timely and professional presentational advice.
