Are you a passionate and experienced Media Studies and Film Studies teacher ready to inspire KS5 learners? Tradewind Recruitment is seeking an enthusiastic professional to join a thriving sixth-form college in the Warrington area. This vacancy offers the opportunity to deliver high quality teaching in Media and Film Studies for learners aged 16-18, starting just after the Christmas break and continuing through to the end of the academic year.

About the Media & Film Studies Curriculum
The successful candidate will teach within a well-established Media & Film Studies provision. Highlights of the offer include:

  • At A-Level, the Media Studies course explores nine different media forms: television, film, radio, newspapers, magazines, advertising, online social & participatory media, video games and music videos.
  • The curriculum framework covers: Media Language (how media communicate meanings); Media Representations (how events, individuals and social groups are portrayed); Media Industries (production, distribution and circulation); and Media Audiences (how audiences interpret and respond).
  • In addition to theoretical study, students use industry-standard equipment and software to produce their own media products and carry out practical coursework.
  • At Level 2 (Extended Certificate) students study print production, photography, television and film fundamentals, including a unit involving detailed study of a media product.
  • The Media & Film department is part of a thriving Performing Arts & Media area, with high staff motivation, strong student recruitment and excellent facilities, including specialist media teaching rooms.

As the Supply Teacher in Media & Film Studies, you will:

  • Teach KS5 (16-18) students across A-Level and/or vocational media/film programmes
  • Plan and deliver lessons in alignment with the college's values and high expectations
  • Support students in both the theoretical (analysis, industry studies, audience research) and practical (production, editing, software use) elements of the curriculum
  • Contribute actively to the department's enrichment offer: e.g., workshops, media visits, production projects
  • Engage with student progression into higher education, apprenticeships or creative industry careers

Person Specification / Key Skills

  • Qualified teacher status (QTS) or appropriate teaching certification in the UK
  • Proven experience teaching Media Studies and/or Film Studies (A-Level and/or vocational)
  • Strong subject knowledge across a broad range of media forms (television, film, radio, video games, advertising, online media)
  • Excellent planning, classroom management and differentiation skills to engage KS5 learners
  • Alignment with the college's ethos of inspiring, challenging and supporting students to excel
  • Strong interpersonal skills: collaborative, proactive and committed to student progression
  • Supportive and values-driven environment where your subject expertise and creative teaching will be highly valued
