Qualifications

Job Description Summary

Alongside other technicians this individual will be responsible for supporting build, maintenance, calibration, repair and operation of Engineering and Production Fuel Rigs used to test Aero‑engine fuel control system components. This includes the pipework manufacture and build of test rig fluid circuits, assembly of test circuits on mobile skids, installation of transducers and their calibration/maintenance and supporting the breakdowns and operation of the rigs. This individual also participates in process documentation creation, continuous improvement activities, 5S and problem solving as required to ensure that engineering test provisioning and maintenance is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.

Schedule

The role is night shift based with the following days and hours and includes shift premium on top of base salary:

Sunday: 22:30-06:00

Monday‑Thursday: 22:00-06:00

To support training and acquiring required competencies the successful candidate will be required to work day based shifts for a period of 3‑6 months.

Key Responsibilities
  • Building hydro‑mechanical test rig circuits to meet test rig schematics using pipework and instrumentation fitter skills (Pipe cutting, flaring, bending, installation of drive heads, test hardware, gearboxes, valves, filters, heat exchangers, transducers, etc.)
  • Supporting the operation of a wide variety of fuel system tests such as hot and cold fuel, vibration, and simulated operation and aiding in diagnosing faults and problem solving hydraulics, pneumatics, instrumentation and control systems (in house training provided). Contribution to improving departmental procedures, guidelines and training materials.
  • Calibrating a range of test rig instrumentation: flowmeters, pressure transducers, thermocouples, drives including maintaining and updating calibration records and master calibration equipment (in house training Provided).
  • Maintaining rigs and auxiliary equipment ensuring all health and safety requirements are adhered to whilst understanding the explosive atmosphere DSEAR requirements ensuring compliance for all testing in ATEX certified zones (Training provided).
Qualifications / Experience
  • Relevant Mechanical qualifications in pipework / instrumentation fitting or Test Rig Maintenance. e.g. HNC/NVQ, apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
  • Strong mechanical background preferably in a test or similar environment.
  • Experience in pipework manufacture, measurement of fluid flow, pressure and temperature coupled with ability to read hydraulic and pneumatic schematic drawings.
