Job summary

Babcock is recruiting for Mechanical Fitters in Plymouth, Devon. The roles involve assembling and maintaining advanced mechanical systems to support naval readiness at Devonport Dockyard.

You will work in a safety-critical environment, performing preventive and corrective maintenance and testing, with opportunities to mentor apprentices. Successful candidates will need a time-served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering/Fitting, and must be able to obtain Security Check

Qualifications

• Maintenance and troubleshooting of hydraulic, pneumatic, rotating and static mechanical systems in marine/nuclear/heavy industrial environments.
• Proficient in laser alignment, vibration analysis and system commissioning/decommissioning.
• Experienced in mentoring apprentices and sharing technical knowledge with peers.
• Holds a time-served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering/Fitting.

Mechanical Fitter Opportunities

As a Mechanical Fitter, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. We have opportunities for Mechanical Fitters to work on a wide range of projects where you’ll be at the heart of our operations, assembling and maintaining advanced mechanical systems that help protect national security. What you’ll do:

What you’ll need:

• Proficient in the maintenance and troubleshooting of hydraulic, pneumatic, rotating, and static mechanical systems with a marine, nuclear, heavy mechanical, or industrial environment’.
• Proficient in laser alignment, vibration analysis, and system commissioning/decommissioning.
• Self-driven with a strong commitment to career development and continuous improvement.
• Experienced in mentoring apprentices and sharing technical knowledge with peers.
• Holds a time-served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering/Fitting.
