Job title: Mechanical Technician (Ref 43600) – Division: Asset Operations & Capital Delivery – Location: Hybrid - Hampton (WTW) – TW12 2ES – Contract type: Permanent – Full/Part-time: Full-time – Hours: 38 hrs/week (Mon‑Fri 7:30am–3:36pm) – Salary: Competitive, up to £39,000 per annum (depending on skills and experience) – Job grade: A – Closing date: 21/01/2026

About the role

We have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join our Maintenance team at our Hampton WTW. As the successful candidate, your role will be to ensure that all equipment at our waste treatment works is safe to use and running efficiently through proactive and reactive maintenance methods, assisting in keeping the site running.

What you’ll be doing as the Mechanical Technician
  • Investigate plant failures and perform repairs quickly and efficiently to avoid interruptions to the process, which may involve diagnosing complex faults and repairing during incidents.
  • Provide technical advice, refer to up‑to‑date technical knowledge, and offer training or support for technical trainees when required.
  • Work on equipment such as motors, gearboxes, screw/chain conveyors & centrifuges, various pumps, control gear, 3‑phase motors, starters, automatic valves, flow/level/pressure measurement devices, programmable controls, chemical handling, and dosing equipment.
  • Complete statutory checks as required.
  • Always work safely and comply with all Health and Safety guidance and procedures.
Base Location

Hampton WTW – TW12 2ES

Working Pattern

38 hours per week, Monday‑Friday 7:30am‑3:36pm, plus standby & overtime opportunities that can increase earnings by £8,000‑10,000 upon completion of essential company training.

Equipment and Resources

All PPE and tools supplied, plus a van when on duty and on call.

What you should bring to the role
  • ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ, or C&G level 3 in mechanical engineering.
  • Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to work in confined spaces, with appropriate training.
  • A valid driving licence.
