Job summary

CB&I Asset Solutions seeks an experienced Mechanical Technician for offshore work on the Cygnus Alpha, on a 2x3 rotation. The role covers preventive and corrective maintenance of mechanical equipment, risk assessments, and compliance with safety procedures.

The candidate should have ONC level, an apprenticeship in Mechanical Maintenance, and relevant certifications. The contract is for 12 months, with offshore site responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Must have Oil & Gas industry experience as Mechanical Technician.
  • Educated to ONC level or equivalent with related apprenticeship.
  • Relevant vocational qualifications in mechanical maintenance.
  • Experience with rotating equipment, pumps, turbines and valves is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all work complies with HSE procedures and Permit to Work.
  • Participate in pre-job risk assessments and toolbox talks.
  • Conduct routine inspection, servicing and adjustment of mechanical equipment.
  • Maintain CMMS records and report completed works.
  • Support installation, commissioning and handover of new equipment.

This post is based offshore on the Cygnus Alpha on a 2x3 rotation. This is a 12-month fixed term contract.

JOB TITLE: MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure all work undertaken is safe, and in compliance and accordance with statutory Health and Safety Procedures, Maintenance Manuals, specific Working Instructions, Safe Systems of Work (Control of Work / Permit to Work), recommended Safe Working Practices and any applicable temporary Bridging Documents in effect.
  • Actively participate in thorough pre-job risk assessments for all non-routine activities, and confirm that they are accurately reflected in the resultant Permit to Work.
  • Actively participate in pre-job toolbox talks for all medium to high risk activities.
  • Actively participate in pre-job site inspections for all works.
  • Ensure all required Personal Protection Equipment is appropriately used.
  • Ensure all work party members, especially 3rd party personnel, fully understand the purpose of, and can use, required Emergency Response Equipment.
  • Ensure all personnel in proximity of works are fully aware of works planned, associated risks and mitigation measures in place.
  • Ensure compliance with established clean workplace practices.
  • Ensure all accidents, incidents, near misses and non-conformances are fully reported.
  • Under direction, undertake routine inspection, servicing & adjustment of equipment.
  • Under direction, support performance and condition monitoring and assessment.
  • Review issued maintenance work orders and ensure all required preparations are fully undertaken before commencement of works.
  • Communicate with production operations personnel for Start-up and Shut-down of mechanical rotating equipment.
  • Undertake planned and corrective maintenance on all Mechanical equipment, ensuring all works are carried out fully in compliance and conformance company procedures.
  • Maintain safety critical equipment in accordance with regulations.
  • Support installation and commissioning of new equipment as required.
  • Ensure equipment and systems are reinstated to required condition and performance.
  • Support diagnostic activities and analysis to rectify faults.
  • Prepare comprehensive activity records and logs in CMMS.
  • Report works completed in CMMS.
  • Provide input on any modifications made to equipment or systems for reporting to onshore discipline engineer to update ‘as-built’ drawing status.
  • Ensure, General Assistants and 3rd party vendors, equipment specialists and maintenance contract personnel onsite conform and comply with applicable rules and regulations, provide guidance as required.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
  • Educated to ONC level or equivalent.
  • Industry recognised apprenticeship in Mechanical Maintenance.
  • Appropriate Vocational Qualification or Certification in Mechanical Maintenance.
  • Previous industrial experience in the oil & gas industry working as an Mechanical Technician.
  • Experience, and competence with the operation and maintenance of the following systems:
  • Gas Turbines (Compression and Power drivers)
  • Gas Compressors (Centrifugal and Screw & Lobe)
  • Pumps (Centrifugal, Screw & Lobe and Positive Displacement)
  • Power Transmission Systems; including Couplings and Alignment
  • Sealing Systems (Dry gas seals, mechanical seals)
  • Valves (Actuated, Control, Isolation, PSV’s)
  • Flange make-up
  • Hydraulic Systems
  • Pneumatic Systems
  • Pig Launching / Receiving Equipment
  • Life-saving equipment (Life boats)
  • CMMS and Work Management Systems (MAXIMO)
  • Condition Based Monitoring
  • Planned Preventative and Condition Based Maintenance
  • Understand the principles of:
  • Emergency Generators
  • Respected, contributory team member able to establish rapport with others.
  • Good communicator, accurately relates information, uses active listening to ensure own understanding and is comfortable with written, spoken or electronic media.
  • Actively demonstrates commitment to higher performance standards.
