Job summary

HVAC Recruitment Limited in Manchester is seeking an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to lead a team across mechanical and plumbing maintenance on a large site.

You'll oversee PPM, reactive works, water hygiene/compliance and contractor management, ensuring safety and quality standards are met. The role emphasizes leadership, documentation and continuous improvement within a busy FM environment.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering, Plumbing or equivalent.
• Proven mechanical/plumbing maintenance experience.
• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
• Good knowledge of health & safety legislation.
• Knowledge of water hygiene/Legionella compliance.
• Experience managing contractors.
• Practical and reliable approach.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Willingness to undertake additional training and qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Supervise mechanical and plumbing engineers, trades staff and subcontractors.
• Manage planned and reactive maintenance activities.
• Ensure statutory and non-statutory PPM is completed on time.
• Maintain accurate maintenance, fault and remedial records.
• Oversee water hygiene and Legionella compliance, including ACOP L8 and HSG 274.
• Support Responsible Person duties for water hygiene and ventilation.
• Manage permits, shutdowns and mechanical isolations.
• Complete and review risk assessments and safe working procedures.
• Manage engineer rosters and daily workloads.
• Provide technical support and assist with fault finding.
• Monitor KPIs and maintenance performance.
• Support minor projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure all work complies with health & safety requirements.
