Mechanical Shift Engineer – Building Services / FM

Location: City of London
Salary: £54,000 per annum
Shift Pattern: Continental – Days & Nights
Type: Full-Time, Permanent

About the Role

We are recruiting for a proactive and experienced Mechanical Shift Engineer to join a leading FM provider, delivering high-quality building services across a flagship commercial site. This is a critical role within a fast-paced environment, ensuring the smooth operation of mechanical systems and supporting the wider engineering team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical building services systems
  • Maintain HVAC systems, pumps, AHUs, fan coil units, boilers, and chillers
  • Operate and monitor BMS systems to optimise building performance
  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and health & safety standards
  • Support subcontractor management and site coordination
  • Respond to emergency situations and support shift coverage as required
Requirements
  • NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Solid experience in building services within commercial FM environments
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical plant systems
  • Experience working on a continental shift pattern (days & nights)
  • Excellent fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills
  • Additional certifications (e.g. F‑Gas, Legionella) are desirable
