Job summary

ASSYSTEM in Warrington is seeking a Mechanical Responsible Engineer to provide technical leadership and governance for mechanical and ventilation engineering across the project lifecycle.

The role requires a degree in mechanical engineering, chartered status, and the ability to obtain security clearance. You will drive safety, compliance, and risk management while coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams in a regulated, nuclear/high-hazard environment at site.

Qualifications

• Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer (or equivalent) with a recognised institution.
• Able to meet security clearance & site access requirements

Responsibilities

• Strong mechanical engineering background in regulated, safety‑critical environments.
• Proven technical accountability & decision‑making experience.
• Ensure compliance with legislation, standards, and safety requirements.
• Establish governance, assurance & verification processes.
• Lead multi‑disciplinary teams & resolve complex technical issues.
• Manage technical risks effectively.
• Interface with project teams, regulators & assurance bodies.
• Promote a strong safety, quality & compliance culture.
