Senior Mechanical Project Manager (HVAC & Plumbing)

Location: Midlands

Overview

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Mechanical Project Manager with expertise in HVAC and Plumbing. The role involves managing multiple mechanical projects, ensuring successful delivery on time, within budget, and to client satisfaction. The position includes oversight of project teams, allocation of workloads, and ensuring operational excellence across all stages of delivery.

Scope of Work

Projects cover a full range of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, Hot and Cold Water services, and sanitaryware installations. The role involves planning, coordinating, and supervising all activities required to achieve successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the installation and delivery of HVAC and mechanical projects across the UK and Ireland.
  • Attend client site meetings, pre-start meetings, and ongoing progress reviews.
  • Plan and manage both subcontract and direct labour resources.
  • Procure materials and ensure timely delivery to meet project schedules.
  • Prepare Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
  • Produce comprehensive Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals.
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and quality standards to ensure snag‑free completion.
  • Handle contract variations and maintain accurate project documentation.
  • Oversee multiple projects ranging in value from £5,000 to £1 million.
  • Conduct surveys, assist with bid proposals, and participate in contract negotiations.
  • Allocate projects to other Project Managers and monitor progress and performance.
  • Work collaboratively with senior management to improve operational procedures and efficiencies.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience in the air conditioning and mechanical services industry.
  • Strong knowledge of industry legislation, major suppliers, and equipment.
  • Ability to manage projects from conception to completion, including labour and material planning.
  • ONC/HNC qualification in Building Services (HVAC) preferred.
  • Strong Health & Safety knowledge (CSCS card required).
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in CAD interpretation and IT‑literate across standard office and project software.
  • Demonstrated ability to build professional relationships and manage teams effectively.
  • Self‑motivated, proactive, and able to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Salary: £55,000 - £60,000 (negotiable depending on experience)
