Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join a Tier 1 contractor delivering a world-leading data centre project in Essex. This permanent role offers the chance to lead mechanical delivery on one of the most advanced, mission-critical data centres ever constructed, housing the world's fastest supercomputer. You will oversee all mechanical systems from design coordination through installation, commissioning, and final handover, ensuring technical excellence, quality, and on-time delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all mechanical works packages, including HVAC, CRAC/CRAH units, and plant systems.
  • Lead project delivery from design through to commissioning and client handover.
  • Coordinate with electrical, civil, and controls teams to ensure MEP integration.
  • Oversee subcontractor performance, safety, and quality compliance.
  • Maintain strict control of programme, budget, and quality standards.
  • Conduct technical workshops, design reviews, and progress meetings.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to mechanical engineers and supervisors.
  • Support testing, commissioning, and system validation to meet uptime and performance targets.
Candidate Requirements
  • Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Manager, ideally within a Tier 1 contractor.
  • Strong background delivering data centres, high-tech, or mission-critical projects.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HVAC and building services systems.
  • Excellent communication, planning, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, technically complex environment.
