This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to deliver high-impact engineering projects within a demanding industrial environment.

The Role

As a Mechanical Project Engineer, you'll take ownership of mechanical engineering projects from concept to completion.

You’ll manage all aspects of project delivery, from initial design and feasibility through installation, commissioning, and handover.

You’ll work with cross-functional teams, external contractors, and equipment suppliers to ensure every project is completed safely, on time, and within budget—driving improvements in plant performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, design, and deliver mechanical projects ranging from £100k to £5m in value.
  • Develop scopes of work, cost estimates, technical specifications, and schedules.
  • Lead the design, selection, and installation of mechanical systems including rotating machinery, pressure systems, conveyors, and lifting equipment.
  • Ensure all work complies with mechanical engineering standards and safety regulations (PUWER, LOLER, PSSR, CDM).
  • Oversee contractor performance and manage the commissioning process.
  • Support asset integrity, maintenance planning, and plant improvement initiatives.
  • Liaise with procurement teams and suppliers for materials and equipment sourcing.
About You

You are a qualified Mechanical Engineer with a proven background in delivering mechanical projects within heavy industry, manufacturing, or large-scale engineering environments. You'll have a practical understanding of plant systems and a proactive approach to safety and reliability.

Essential
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline.
  • Experience in industrial or heavy manufacturing environments.
  • Strong project management and coordination skills.
  • Working knowledge of CDM Regulations and relevant mechanical safety legislation.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
Desirable
  • Chartered or working toward Chartered Engineer status (IMechE).
  • Experience in asset reliability, maintenance, or plant upgrades.
