Job summary

AVK is expanding its Engineering Team in Maidenhead, Berkshire or London (Barbican). The Mechanical Design Project Engineer will provide upfront technical support on the specification and design of Generator/UPS systems, developing design documentation and mechanical packages to meet project timelines.

The role requires collaboration with sales, suppliers and clients, with responsibilities spanning drawings, testing, and continuous improvement in mechanical design technology.

Qualifications

• HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with up to 5 years' experience on mechanical projects.
• Frequent travel to client sites and supplier premises across the UK, mainly London and surrounding area, and some overseas.
• Role involves front‑line technical support on Generator/UPS systems and design documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems using LabView software.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to gather requirements and specifications.
• Create detailed technical drawings and documentation for mechanical components and assemblies.
• Conduct testing and analysis to ensure performance and reliability.

Due to expansion and growth we have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Design Project Engineer to join our Engineering Team in Maidenhead, Berkshire or London office location in Barbican. AVK are the UK's leading provider of critical power systems and maintenance that guarantee your power. For over 30 years we've been supplying UPS systems and standby diesel generators providing our clients with reliable back-up power solutions for their mission critical services & systems. AVK specialise in all aspects of the design, planning, implementation and on-going maintenance of critical power systems. We provide solutions for standard or bespoke applications, with UPS systems ranging in size from 1kVA to 1.6MVA to standby diesel generation ranging in size from 5kW up to 4MVA and covering all project sizes from £1k up to £30m. About the Role

As a Mechanical Design Project Engineer, you will provide up front technical support to the sales department on the specification and design of Generator/UPS systems. Assisting in the preparation of technical proposals. Focussing on mechanical packages. You will be required to develop design documentation in line with project requirements and timescales.

Requirements

HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with up to 5 years' experience working on mechanical projects as a Mechanical Designer and/or Mechanical Projects Engineer. This position requires frequent travel to client sites and supplier premises throughout the UK mainly London and surrounding area and some overseas.
