Role : Mechanical Project Engineer

Location : Aylesbury and surrounding area

Salary : Up to £45,000 + company car or car allowance

WRG has a recently partnered with a new client who are leading the way, in delivering innovate engineering solutions exclusively for the water sector. The business has grown from a team of 4 to over 100 engineering professionals in the space of 13 years, and are now a trusted to supply a range of professional services on water frameworks across the South East.

There is significant investment across the industry which is set to continue into the future, with this in mind, the business has very ambitious growth plans. They are looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to their waste water team in Aylesbury, overseeing various sites across the region.

Role Overview

As a Project Engineer, you will play a key role across a variety of water industry projects. Working closely with Mechanical Fitters, Supervisors, and Project Managers, youll be involved at every stage of the project lifecycle. This site-based role includes costing and tendering new work, contributing to technical solutions and design, supporting procurement, preparing project documentation, undertaking risk assessments, and maintaining strong client communication.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to efficient project delivery with sound technical input and a solution-focused approach.
  • Ensure compliance with company, client, and industry standards at all times.
  • Plan and deliver work with a strict commitment to safety and a zero compromise mindset.
  • Support Project Managers with documentation, risk assessments, method statements, construction phase plans, and project programmes.
  • Provide design input and assist with design reviews.
  • Procure materials and sub-contractors.
  • Seek and issue permits to work, including client isolation permits.
  • Tender new projects and secure quotations from key suppliers.
  • Maintain clear, consistent communication with clients.
  • Prepare RAMS and conduct site inspections.
  • Promote continuous improvement in health and safety and ensure correct PPE usage.
  • Uphold company QEHS standards and maintain high levels of quality across all activities.
Requirements
  • Mechanical Engineering qualification (desirable but not essential).
  • Water industry experience preferred but not essential.
  • Strong understanding of engineering processes and procedures.
  • Experience in on-site operational environments.
  • Ability to define project scope and develop schedules and plans.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate site teams.
  • Full UK driving license.
