Job summary

A leading construction firm based in the United Kingdom is seeking a Mechanical Package Manager to oversee the delivery of a significant data centre project in South Wales. The ideal candidate should possess a HNC in Mechanical Engineering and have experience managing MEP projects exceeding £5 million. Strong commercial, healthcare, or pharmaceutical sector experience is essential, along with proficiency in managing subcontractors and preparation of contract documents.

  • Read, understand and scrutinise Specifications, Programmes & Drawing.
  • Design review and validation.

  • Prepare Contract Documents such as Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
  • Coordination and management of subcontractors.

Job description

We are working with a leading main contractor with a turnover of £700m and a strong international presence across sectors who are looking for a mechanical package manager to join their team to deliver a very notable 68MW data centre in South Wales.

Reporting to a mechanical lead, you will join a talented team with an overview of managing a number of complex specialist packages across the campus. You will join from pre-construction stage, going to site in April / May time to manage and motivate subcontractors through the 3 year scheme to PC.

Responsibilities
  • Read, understand and scrutinise Specifications, Programmes & Drawing
  • Design review and validation
  • Assisting with Procurement of Plant and subcontractors
  • Liaising with Project Managers, Project Directors and external design consultants.
  • Competent using Microsoft Office software
  • Prepare Contract Documents I.e. Method Statements, Risk Assessments, RFI’s, etc.
  • Coordination and management of subcontractors
  • Instruct and coordinate construction managers
  • Read, understand and scrutinise Sub-Contract instructions
  • Commissioning and testing
The Ideal Candidate should have
  • Have at least gained a HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or be working towards gaining)
  • Must have experience running MEP over £5M
  • Must have major commercial, healthcare or pharmaceutical experience.
